Over the years, RCRD has achieved significant milestones in promoting the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in Nepal. Our major successes include:
A. Capacity Building
- 100 Days CBR Facilitators Training: Since 1997, RCRD has trained over 500 facilitators from government bodies, NGOs, and INGOs across all 77 districts of Nepal. These facilitators are equipped with the skills to support community-based rehabilitation (CBR) programs for children and persons with disabilities.
- Inclusive Education Training: Over 400 individuals, including teachers, NGO staff, and community members, have received training on inclusive education, enhancing their capacity to create accessible and inclusive learning environments.
B. Information Management and Studies
- RCRD has published multiple disability directories, resource books, and assessment tools, which are widely used by stakeholders across Nepal.
- Notable studies include early disability identification, district baseline assessments in 25 districts, CBID feasibility studies in 10 districts, and deinstitutionalization research.
C. Advocacy and Policy Influence
- RCRD has been instrumental in promoting CBR and inclusive education on a national scale.
- The organization has contributed to the formation of disability-related laws and policies, and has developed guidelines and training manuals on CBR, accessibility, and inclusive education.
D. Networking
- In 1998, RCRD established the National CBR Network, strengthening the collaboration among disability organizations nationwide.
- RCRD has played a key role in building the capacity of the National Federation of Disabled Nepal (NFDN), Nepal’s umbrella organization for disability rights.
