Major Activities

A. Empowering Through Knowledge and Information

At RCRD, we believe in the transformative power of information and knowledge to create an inclusive and empowered society. Our mission is to develop and share a wide range of resources aimed at supporting the development, empowerment, and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.

We offer accessible materials in Nepali and other local languages, ensuring they are available in multiple formats to reach the widest audience possible including persons with disabilities. Our resources include:

  1. Disability Awareness Materials: Spreading positive messages about disability and fostering understanding within communities.

B. Building Capacity for an Inclusive Society

We believe that capacity development is key to fostering a progressive and inclusive society. Our initiatives focus on empowering persons with disabilities, their organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders by enhancing their skills and knowledge on diverse disability-related topics. Through specialized training, mentoring, orientation, consultations, and workshops, we facilitate capacity-building in:

  • Community Based Rehabilitation.
  • Community Based Inclusive Development.
  • Inclusive Education.
  • Disability-Inclusive Policy Formulation and Planning
  • Advocacy
  • Disability-Inclusive Development.
  • Institutional Strengthening.

Our goal is to equip individuals and institutions with the tools they need to contribute meaningfully to creating a society that values and includes people with disabilities and all.

C. Research and Studies.

We believe that fact-based data and information are crucial for policymakers and planners to develop effective policies and plans that enhance the rights, opportunities, and services available to persons with disabilities. To support this, we conduct research and studies on various disability-specific issues. Our goal is to provide policymakers and planners with essential data and insights, while also sharing our findings with stakeholders and the general public.

D. Advocacy

Advocacy is a powerful tool for amplifying the voices of rights and driving meaningful change. It plays a vital role in shaping policies and ensuring their effective implementation. At RCRD, we lead advocacy campaigns with government institutions and policymakers to introduce new disability-specific policies, improve existing ones, and ensure their proper enforcement to uphold the rights of persons with disabilities. These campaigns are often conducted under RCRD’s leadership or in collaboration with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs). Additionally, we provide technical support to OPDs to conduct advocacy campaigns at the local level, empowering them to champion disability rights effectively.
