Bhaktapur, Nepal – From April 27 to 29, 2025, the Resource Center for Rehabilitation and Development (RCRD) conducted a three-day refresher training on Gender, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) at Bhaktapur Guest House in Surya Binayak, Bhaktapur. The training, part of the Quality Education: Leave No One Behind project, aimed to strengthen the capacity of consortium partners—Save the Saptari and Nepal National Social Welfare Association (NNSWA)—to integrate GEDSI principles into their work, ensuring equitable access to quality education for all.
The training brought together experts and participants to explore innovative approaches to inclusive education, focusing on addressing the diverse needs of girls, Dalits, ethnic minorities, and children with disabilities. Facilitated by Mr. Manish Prasai (RCRD), Mr. Dil Kamal Chhetri, and Ms. Sunita Gurung (Save the Children), the sessions covered critical topics such as:
A highlight of the training was a field visit to a special school operated by Bhaktapur Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR). The school provides quality education to children with severe and profound disabilities, offering participants a firsthand look at effective inclusive education practices. The visit aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of supporting children with significant disabilities, aligning with the School at Home initiative to improve educational outcomes for beneficiaries.
By equipping partners with the knowledge and tools to implement GEDSI principles, RCRD and its consortium are paving the way for an education system that truly leaves no one behind. The training underscores a shared commitment to fostering inclusion, empowering marginalized communities, and advancing disability rights in Nepal
